Ashton Vale Community Centre has been in the heart of the community for more than 60 years. The building was first erected in the early 1950’s and has been a hub of community contact since then. It has a long established history as a venue for community events.
In 2015, following the retirement of the original Committee, a new Committee took over the day to day running of the Community Centre. We became a Registered Charity (Charity Number 1161245) in 2015 and the Community Centre is now entirely self funded. Ashton Vale is predominantly a residential area which is bordered on three sides by commercial trading estates. A number of new residential estates have brought new families into the area. The community is multigenerational and has become more diverse welcoming people from all ethnic backgrounds. We aim to try and provide accessible facilities for everyone in the local and wider community; we encourage individuals and groups to make use of the Community Centre to create a central place for a wide range of purposes, including recreation, social, education, religious, art, support groups, clubs and exercise activities. The Community Centre derives its income from hire charges and occasional grants. We continuously seek to improve and update the facilities of the Community Centre to provide a well maintained, safe and carefully managed building. We aim to ensure the Centre is used to full capacity to ensure a sustainable future. The Community Centre is situated in the heart of the community and is easily accessed by walking, driving or by public transport. Your support is always needed and welcomed. If you can spare a few hours to help at a local event, maintain the garden or anything else you think may be of value please get in touch. |
Zoe Keys and some of her colleagues from SSE very kindly swapped a working day to volunteer down at the Community Centre on 27th June 2016.
Thanks to them all working extremely hard to repaint the main hall and put a first coat on in the kitchen the centre looks refreshed. Zoe contacted us after attending one of the Hub events. |
